I have three books going at once, so it will take forever to finish any of them: The Gormenghast Trilogy (thank you, Bara!), Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness (the African memoir I mentioned in an earlier thread), A Week in Winter (Maeve Binchy was good company last week when I was helping my dad home from the hospital), and now I've ordered Return of a King, which is about Afghanistan. I heard the author interviewed on Bob Edwards' radio show. Can't wait to start that one! Plus I've got Khalid Hosseini's new book requested. Can you tell I am not reading for school at the moment!?!

Liar, Ad!
I've only just got Life of Pi - we're a bit behind, here in the Arctic Circle (almost) - so that's next.
I'm also lining up to re-read Titus and co - found my old, battered copies; and re-read 'His Dark Materials'. They're glaring at me accusingly from their Amazon box.
I keep meaning to order 'Wool' as you all speak to highly of it.
I'd add to the list 'Hotel Rwanda' (again, Africa, Ann). I can't for the life of me remember the author. I'll look it up and modify ...
Will have a think about other trilogies, Brooks, but I'd re-recommend the 'Once and Future King'. The first one is called 'The Sword in the Stone' - again, can't remember the other titles. Again, will look it up. I think you'd like it. It's about Merlin and magic - and it's quirky. Ad to add.

Same here, Brooks! I've been reading/ grading AP French persuasive essays for a week (in Cincinnatti!) so Midnight Children was on the back burner for a while, but I'm almost finished.
On my Kindle: - Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness - Flight Behavior (Barbara Kingsolver) - The eighty dollar Champion
I also will re-read The Rock of Tanios (Amin Maalouf)and a bunch of other French language books. That, and His Dark Materials, too!

I know, I know (hang head in shame) - I was there for 8 days but really had no time off: we started at 8 am, finished at 5:30 pm every day even the week-end and were fed and housed on site (Hyatt hotel and Duke Center). It was pretty intensive! But we did get out a few times at night in Cincinnatti and I have to say, I really like the city! Mount Adams, the purple people bridge (so I can say I set foot in KY again, lol), lots of nice walks. And the restaurants! Oh, and the National Underground Railroad Museum, which we did in a hurry the last day, since we were released a bit early and the museum closes at 5. VERY interesting stuff, in that museum, not enough time to see everything!

Claire, did you ever find your way to Arnold's Bar & Grill in Cinci? They have the most wonderful Greek spaghetti!

yum greek spaghetti sounds good. King of the Wind and the Spirit Stallion were YA books that I was able to finish in a couple of times of sitting down to read.
Now The Scorpio Races is a little harder to get into, but I am enjoying it.
