I think a lot of horses died in that tornado. The Orr farm was pretty much flattened and was home to about 70-100 horses I think? How horrible. It's one thing to get the 15 mn warning, gather most of your belongings and family, hop in your car and drive away...but what do you do with horses? Can't leave them in the barn, and if outside they won't fare any better in a F4 or F5 tornado...It's just terrible. When I heard about the whole thing, human casualties etc, my first thought was Why doesn't everyone (or at least the schools / churches / community centers etc) in these parts where tornadoes are pretty common, have an underground shelter? But it seems that because of the nature of the ground it's not always feasible to build an underground shelter...
