I didn't want to read this book. I read another of her books (Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight) which was compelling and infuriating. But just read the first few pages (Amazon preview) and you will be hooked. Bara, it's in Central Africa, a memoir. You aren't secretly the author, are you?
Also, Bara, I promise to keep reading Gormenghast, too.

I read 'Don't let's go to the dogs'. It's quite depressing, but quite true .. (no, no, not MY mother)! But many, many sad people marooned in the bush.

Thanks for the recommendation Ann! I am compiling a list for summer. Any other interesting reads lately?

I wish! I'm just crawling out of all the reading I've done for school. Now if you want to read books written for young adults, I am your resource! (Actually, The Book Thief was excellent. And I liked How I Live Now, too.)
