Well, we did it! We finished our first recognized horse trial this weekend. We didn’t get eliminated, we had fun, and we learned a great deal. On top of that we actually placed 5th in Beginner Novice! We got a 30.5 in dressage, added 1.6 time penalties in XC (we trotted on purpose and D decided to walk into the water lol) and I made a rider error that cost us 1 rail in stadium. We actually took one stadium fence from pretty much a stand still lol, D was not too sure about it, but didn’t bring it down! We also go the TIP award for our division, which was pretty fun. Great program! I was glad we rocked our OTTB saddle pad for both dressage and stadium ☺ It was nerve-wracking, fun, exciting, a little scary but thrilling at the same time. So glad I did it. Couldn’t have done any of this without a friend of mine at the barn and her awesome 19-year-old OTTB gelding showing us the ropes! Now every one says we have to go Novice in October, perhaps we’ll do another BN event this summer if I can find the money for it before that lol. We’ll see, not too worried about pushing it. Without further ado, pics! (ignore my lower leg, D has been jumping me out of the tack lately, that'll be my summer project: secure my lower leg!) Walking into the water: Trotting out: Stadium: Our pretty pink ribbon lol

Woohoo! What a feeling, eh? Great job. D looks SO good over the dog house, with his knees way up! And you look just fine, you're not in his way at all. I like the saddle pad, too! What is the TIP award?

What a tidy jumper he is! Love those nice even knees in ALL the shots. He looks like he's very careful and I have a feeling you two are going to progress very quickly! Congrats on the pretty pink ribbon. Great job, especially for your first time out!

Aww thanks everyone! I was SO nervous, but ended up having a lot of fun. I didn't even know my dressage score or placing before I went XC, just had a blast anyway! D really stepped it up and made me proud. We even did our first real lead change in stadium, I figured heck, I'll ask and see what happens, and bam! Perfect, clean lead change I came off the course more happy about that than anything lol. I think I'd like to do at least one more at BN level before we move up. Perhaps even a schooling HT, but I'm not quite ready to make that move up yet!
