Second time I've ridden my friend's big gelding, Monte. He was so easy and mellow through the woods on beautiful trails. Loose rein. Relaxed. Ahhhhh.....eeeeeiiiiiyyyyyEEE! He flipped just like that from half asleep to Get Me Outta Here! I think it was just because we'd turned toward home. And, honestly, it was sort of fun. A little like old times ;D. But I don't really know this guy very well, and the one lesson Cypress never offered me was how to ride a buck. I don't know if Monte bucks. 
So, I rode him most of the way back, but hopped off as we approached the pavement. I'm only so proud.
It reminded me so much of Cypress on trails when I was taking dressage lessons. I always wanted that fire in the ring. There's no one there to see these magnificent strides when you're out in the woods! Lucky for me, Monte has done a lot of dressage, so my aids made sense to him. Mostly!
