So, on to business. Did SMay sneak into the campground to check out sites. Are we just going to guess where we want to be? I think the last time I stayed at the campground some of us were around 20 +- That's before reservations were available and I was able to show up on Wednesday and stake out several sites. Last time I went I stayed in a hotel, but since I'm camping this time I'm open for suggestions from others planning to camp. I'm also open for circling wagons in the primitive area, though electric hookup can be nice. Here are the rates March 15 - November 15, 2013 Improved Sites (electric/water): Sun-Thu: $30 per night Fri & Sat: $32 per night Holidays & Premium Weekends: $35 per night Primitive (electric) $26 ($28 premium*) per night Primitive (no electric/water) $20 per night
Here's the campground map. www.kyhorsepark.com/images/stories/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/campmap_color_20091.pdf They charge a fee for making a reservation of $7.50 per site (not per day). Probably too many people making reservations to just cancel them at the last minute. Though I doubt they ever had trouble filling those spots, it would be annoying I'm sure. Here's hoping I can get at least that week off, but I'd like to get the week after off too. ;D Bara needs to come and coordinate the group trail riding.

Oopsie I wrote some comments on the other thread about this! Yes, lets reserve some sites for next year, just in case. This year there seemed to be MANY open spots sitting unused throughout the event in the campground. (weird). Take the spots that are along the back (north) edge, closest to the entrance to the park, which is in the northwest corner of the campground. You don't want to be right next to the entrance, but you'd like to be kind of near the back of the campground and you could literally see some of the XC from your site! Yes, I will NOT camp without a trailer or RV. Tent camping this year would have been miserable, with cold and damp conditions. Northside RV in Lexington rents the campers, and we can talk about going in together on one or more of those. They deliver them and set them up for you prior to your arrival. NICE. (also expensive).

Yeah, much as I have fond memories of tent camping, I'm now spoiled with my little camper. Nothing like being high, dry, and warm. ;D It was always nice not to have to drive anywhere once set up.
Hmmm, which day did you drive through? If it was Sunday no big deal, because of the checkout time, but if Friday or Saturday... Perhaps they set too many aside for concession people and competitors? Perhaps the weather forecast scared some people away?
Common Niaru, weather was a factor. Otherwise, I doubt anywhere else would have been any better then Drizzly Woods or was that Misty Acres??? ;D

So, Nancy and I (and probably Cindy too) would love to share in on a RV or trailer at the campground. Who's with us? Smay, I assume one needs to reserve these things fairly early?
Loved the camper! No way am I doing the tent thing again...too old now LOL! Not sure if Mr. cc will be coming as he has limited vacation with his new job so it just may be me solo. But I can confirm that within a few days. If it's just me, I'm good with sharing a camper!
OK guys, Zen and I are on it. The campers aren't hard to get - it's the sites. Zen - the empty day we drove around was Friday evening! So you know that is high time and people would normally be completely packed in. no idea. Saturday looked like the same spots open, too. ANYWAY, we should at least reserve a couple spots together and play it from there.

I have been requesting quotes on rv rental. How many going would want to share a rv? I know it is early, but if we can nail down something, we might get a early bird discount. Not sure if these places do that, but it never hurts to ask!!!
Brooks, if Bara can't make it, maybe you and some others out that way would want to carpool out? It would be so cool for our west coaters to come too!!!
Bara, you must come!!!
If you climb into the saddle, be ready for the ride!

As of now, I say I'm in. We'll just have to see what happens as the time gets closer. I will mostly likely have the bf in tow, so we will hotel it.
Its just that some of us... me for instance... really likes TBs... always have, always will. They can give you premature grey hair... but they will also kill themselves for you... literally.... and there is something very addicting about a horse that is willing to care that much about a human.
kaidensmom: Any stories or experience with a horse with strangles that is SOB? Gelding is currently hospitalized. On Penicillin and wasn't getting better so the vet just started horse on IV doses of DMSO. The abcesses are pharyngeal.
