.. who was a supplier and lived in the next village. I happened to be watching TV when I saw the lane where he lived. We'd spent many hours toiling over his computer!
From: Barbara Jacobs [Subject: Here's a funny thing!
I was flicking through the TV channels a few weeks ago. I happened to pass over ‘Hotel Inspector’. There was ‘Windsor’s’. I hesitated for a moment – and then I saw the sign ‘Gogmore Lane’. So I watched the whole wretched thing in case I recognised anyone walking past, or saw your motorbike turning down the lane.
I have to say the landlady was a bit scary!
old Mel, she really didn’t shine – that programme didn’t do her any favours either, she went bankrupt a couple of months after it aired for the first time!
If you ever come across a re-run of ‘Public Eye’ from the early 70’s called ‘Hard Times’ then my old house is where the villain was hiding
Reminds me I must go and visit Chertsey again – now living in a 300 year old timber framed cottage in Bromley of all places… All low beams and inglenook fireplaces.

Isn't it funny when you see a place you used to know on TV or in a movie how you look for someone familiar?

I know! So many films/programmes are set in London - and I worked right in the centre for 30 years - ask Colleen!
I even watched Thatcher's funeral cortege, because it followed my daily drive home. "Look, Lexie! Putney Bridge! The old Mortlake Brewery!" She didn't remember.
Mind you, it could take me 2 1/2 hours to drive the seven miles ... it took them 15 minutes with the roads closed off. Grrr...
I watch anything set in Chicago, watching for UPS trucks - even though I know that's probably not your route!
But hey! We found you a UPS truck in Windsor - remember?

heehee...yes, being in London with someone in the know was fab. And luckily, we had been dragging ourselves all over the city already so she didn't get us totally lost! ;D
Cool to see places you know in various media outlets!
Has anyone read "Merryland" by Josh Pons of the "Country Life Chronicles" fame? I worked and lived on that farm so it was pretty cool to be able to picture everything he was describing. My farrier is even mentioned.

;D Every time we passed a MacDonalds in Regent Street, I was accusing Colleen and Marcia : 'It's YOUR fault!' However we finished up in Leicester Square, where the manager of the Rainforest Cafe bought us lunch! Come to Shetland, CC, I have just the same 'pull' with the 'Tatties and Point' truck-stop! I'll order that book and look out for your farrier.
