I am very interested in the teachings of Mary Wanless. Has anyone ridden with her or audited her clinics? I cannot seem to find one in the tristate, I have been looking. I know she has a student that is an amazing dressage rider but I cannot remember her name....

I haven't but I'd be interested to! I've read her book, it's pretty useful.

Ouch! Insulting, that is not for me, I have thin skin. I will search her on COTH I forgot I could do that!
I have taken a few Centered riding clinics and really liked it so I thought that I would enjoy that type of lesson, but a clinician being mean to me would not make me ride well.

I audited her clinic (yes, she can be a little curt, but graciously answered our questions when we formed a circle) I have watched a little of a Joanie Bolton clinic as well. The barn owner's daughter has really made progress as Joanie's working student. I would need to see more. So far, the biomechanics lessons I've seen haven't made a difference in what I was seeing in the horse. A 5 min discussion about pelvic bones and the horse went walking off looking like the same trail ride it thought it was on as before the discussion.
Oh, I think maybe you were thinking of Heather Blitz?
There are so many schools of thought. I got to clinic with Emma Weinert who is with Steffan & Shannon Peters and it made a big difference for me. Loved Emma!!! They don't bear down, they get off the back more and lift the rib age up. Suck core in like you would be punched instead of the belt buckle thing blowing up a balloon . I did buy Wanless' new book at the clinic because I liked the exercise moderating the horses walk steps. There is something for everyone and I guess you just pick the tools from the toolbox that work best for you, your horse, and that moment.
