I'm struggling through the Balkan Trilogy. Oh, dear heavens, Rumanian Society during WWII. The TV is on the blink, so I'm forced to learn to READ!
Save me from these endless, dreary Drawing Room parties, with all the unspoken barbs. (Barbs!) Does anyone have anything fun? In time for Amazon to deliver before Christmas?
The dogs are tired of 'I Spy'.... and it only works with chicken treats - and usually leads to a brawl.
Help!

Just for kicks, try this: www.literature-map.comYou just type in the name of an author you like, and it generates a cloud of authors with some similarity. I find it useful, at least as a jumping off point when I can't think of anything to recommend. Once you have a name or two, you can look them up on Amazon to see if their work appeals to you.

I am reading "The Secret River", about a British convict and his family starting their life again after being shipped to Australia. So far really good!

That map is fun, Ann! Thanks for the recommendations, Truth and Thea.
I think I'll try the Aussie one!

Interesting site, Ann! I've found a few good things with the "related" feature on my Kindle. This seems to be similar.
I have to admit that I'm re-reading Mists of Avalon...after grading all these papers I needed something easy/fun to dive into. I read it years ago, when I was a kid...but in French, so now it's like reading it anew. Plus I think the French edition had edited a lot of it. I'm such a sucker for those legends...
