Hay is very hard to come by in my area I have called everywhere and no one has any they can get rid of! A friend and I had found round bales on two different occasion's and had a date set for them to be delivered but Both places never called and never came! I have one round now and hope to get more very soon! I have been looking on line and asking around to see what others are doing to supplement hay. What I have seen that would like to do is up my complete feed, add hay cubs and beet pulp with molasses. My question is - what amounts of each of these feed do you think is best to feed? Im open to suggestions if you know of something that would be better! Thank you, oh yes im feeding one horse and a small pony.

Sorry, wasn't sure where to go, as it's quite a subjective subject, and I've been quite busy lately. Glad you got answers. I know a lot of complete feeds can be fed without hay, and will have guidelines on the bags. About all I'll add is your local feed store should be able to help you with your feed choices. When Flynn got older he was on senior feed with no hay, as his teeth were pretty much worn out. It's a little trial and error finding the right amount for your horse's particular needs. For the hay you can feed, you might want to try a small opening feed net (hung high so as the horse can't get caught up in it) so as it will take them longer to eat the hay.
Anyway, best of luck with your feed choices.

…just joined board but for anyone out there still wondering, my 39 year old nearly toothless paint who couldnt tolerate an increase in grain, stayed in good flesh as he happily slurped down his soaked senior feed and soaked hay stretchers(Blue Seal Hay Stretcher had lowest molasses binder content last time i checked which was a few years ago) 👍🏽 Add to that soaked beet pulp & soaked hay cubes and youre in good shape. Fed our old fart am & pm….added lunch when he hit 40👍🏽😉
