Oh noooooooo....Ann, I'm so so sorry. What a lucky girl she was to have such a wonderful, loving, doting, owner such as you. I agree, an ER Number One Queen she was, even to the end. Hugs to you and RIP Babe. You will be missed by all. :-(

Ann, I would never have any doubt you did less then what was right for The Babe. She was definitely the matriarch of ExRacers, though Flynn would have loved her. He had a thing for big dark mares, even the ones that were normally standoffish, he was quite the charmer. So, don't be surprised if you find him flirting with her across the bridge and her thinking he's kinda cute. To answer SMay's questions, I had Flynn for over 24 of his 34 years. Zen has been with me for 16 years since about the second Saturday of October. I'm sending Guy to Ann, because he would rather just be a dressage pony. OK, his anniversary is in April and well, I got him just before the 2005 Rolex.

Oh Ann. I'm so very sorry. She was indeed magnificent. However, you weren't the only lucky one in this relationship, not by a long shot.
Big hugs to you.

I'm so, so, so sorry. And so sorry that I didn't see this. I felt as if I knew her. There's a gelding in England mourning, too.
It's the day we all dread.
I'm so, so sorry. Love B

We know the ache you are going through, and have the tears as well. Another hard winter would have been more for you, and glad your vet was very understanding. I never forget putting my moms mare down. My mom wouldn't stay so me and the vet led her to the pasture, and after the big dose the vet took the lead rope and gently pushed her back on her hock so she would not break anything when she went down. No words, just know there are a bunch here if you need us.

Oh Ann...I just finished reading this thread that I hadn't seen before tonight. I am SO sorry you lost your beloved Babe. She really was something wasn't she? I can't imagine you without her. It's so, so hard to lose them. Without a doubt tho, you did right by her. I teared up reading how she "looked beyond". Rita did the same thing, when I led her out that night, she stood under a frigid, star-studded winter sky and looked up and beyond. Do they know something we don't...?
RIP Cypress Babe.

Ann, I am so sorry you've lost The Babe. What a long and full life she had with you! You will be relieved over the winter that she is not suffering...little solace I know...but a kindness to her. Many hugs to you.

Ann, I'm so sorry. I guess we all knew it was coming . . . but that doesn't make it any easier, does it. Sorry I'm so late reading this thread. I thought something was up from some FB posts but didn't see the details until now.
