Ah Well, no guesses.. Some clues: The man was also a botanist, educator, inventor, explorer and innovator of agricultural science. He was born in the 1800's. He experimented with not only peanuts, but sweet potatoes as well. In his working with peanuts and sweet potatoes he came up with 105 uses for them. His quest was to find an alternative crop to replace cotton.

Yes, Big Tee!! George Washington Carver is the answer. His birthplace is about 5 miles from where I live. It is managed by the National Park Service with a museum, the Family burial cemetery and a nature trail.

In 1912, there was an F4 tornado hit Regina, Saskatchewan. There was a well known British stage actor in town at the time of the tornady, and he and his troupe stayed behind to help with the clean-up. Later, the man moved to Hollywood, and acted under a different name. Who was this person?

William Henry Pratt AKA Boris Karloff (23 November 1887 – 2 February 1969), whose real name was William Henry Pratt, was an English actor who emigrated to Canada in the 1910s. Karloff performed in a variety of contexts throughout his career, but is best remembered for his roles in horror films and his portrayal of Frankenstein's monster in the 1931 film Frankenstein, 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein, and 1939 film Son of Frankenstein. His popularity following Frankenstein in the early 1930s was such that for a brief time he was billed simply as "Karloff" or, on some movie posters, "Karloff the Uncanny".
The Regina Cyclone is the popular name for a tornado that devastated the city of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on June 30, 1912, around 4:30 p.m. when two green funnel clouds formed to the south of the city and tore a swath through the residential area between Wascana Lake and Victoria Avenue and the downtown business district. It remains the deadliest tornado in Canadian history.

Yes, Brooks and some of the old pics of the aftermath are quite spectacular. They trot this story out and dust it off quite frequently to mark the anniversary of the cyclone and I believe it was the question last year on a local program called Saskatchewan's Smartest Radio Listener
Strangely, I was caught in a much smaller tornado in Regina, and the clouds were green as well.

In all my years of living in what is referred to as "Tornado Alley" I have seen only one tornado and never was in the direct path of one. There is an Indian folk lore statement that says, "no tornado will strike in the fork of two rivers". My hometown is in the fork of two rivers.
Okie Doke, here's another one to check out:
This man was born in 1879 and died in 1935. He was a cowboy, comedian, humorist, social commentator, vaudeville performer and actor in silent and "talkie" movies. In the mid-1930's he was the top-paid movie star in Hollywood. He poked fun at a host of controversial topics, but never offended anyone. He is credited and rightly so with many, many notable quotes.

One odd thing about Will Rogers - he was not born in the US nor did he die in the US - was born in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) and died in a plane crash in Alaska Territory.
Now here is the next one - a snippet of song lyrics, so sont and artist please.
Well. (she) came to visit me in the hospital that night and told me her parents had bought her the finest hearing aid money can buy. I asked her what kind it was and (she) just looked down at her watch and said 'Oh about 9:30.
have fun!!!
