Finally starting this big book, the first in a series of three. Thanks for the recommendation, Claire. It looks good. Sadly, I keep dozing off around page 14, which is no fault of the book. I'm just picking it up too late in the evening.

LOL! This is the one I haven't read. I started with the middle book (Time and Chance), not knowing it was a trilogy, and just finished Devil's Brood. And now I'm reading Lionheart, which is the sequel of the trilogy. I don't know why I am so fascinated with this period of history!

Well, the Crusades are going on in the background. But it's Maude and Stephen ransacking the kingdom for ages and ages, and I assume the suffering masses wondered if nobody in Heaven was paying attention.

Ah, gotcha! Cadfael rides again. Great period to read. Not so sure it would have been so good to live through. Off to order it/them.
