I'm reading this book by Jonathan Safron Foer on my daughter's recommendation. I love/hate it! Hate the illustrations (hokey and unnecessary) and the way dialog is printed on the page (give back the paragraphs, please).
But I love the characters and will forever after rely on the perfect metaphor, "heavy boots."
There's a movie? I guess I'll give that a try after I finish the book.

I started watching the movie and never finished it, but I really wished I would have and I am going to rent it again so I can finish it. The beginning was quite slow in my opinion, but when the boy met Octavia Spencer's character, I thought it started to take a very good upswing then.

I've almost finished the book. Some marvelous characters, some totally irritating affectations in the way the book is presented, but the parade of quirky individuals is lovely. Grandpa is on my last nerve, though.
