I rescued "Maybe" aka Gracie, JC "Don't Say Maybe" about 3 years ago from a feedlot in WA. I rehomed her to a teenage girl two years ago and the girl lost interest and returned her to me after 1 year, I have been spending the past year putting more training into her and now I'm starting the difficult search of finding the right home for her. I am not looking to outright sell her without a first right of refusal because I want to make sure she comes back to me or goes back to her original owner who I'm in contact with now. I was hoping to keep her for my 6 year old but she gets too nervous about small children on her back, she loves to nuzzle with them but doesn't want to be responsbile for carting them around. She is green but very quiet.
Her Specs :
1992 16 hand Bay Mare, some white markings but mostly solid
She has had extensive ground work, lunging, work over ground poles, and is now learning to jump.
She is very, very smart and eager to learn
She gets along GREAT with other horses so can be pastured with others
She loves kids but gets nervous if really young kids (under 8) ride her, doesn't do anything bad she just worries too much...
She is currently being ridden by a 10 year old girl twice a week and is doing great with her.
I just don't have the time she needs. I'm really looking for someone who wants a horse to love and spend time with a doing some riding with. She is sound but does have arthritis in her left hind heel which requires Senior Flex supplments.
She LOVES people and attention, no vices, she does toe in with her left front but is still a very pretty mover....has many years left on her for someone to enjoy. She is sound for breeding but I'd prefer not to proliferate her gene pool anymore, she's already had 6 foals.
If you are in Northern California and think you can provide this special mare with the right situation, please contact me. I will keep her until she finds another situation but I'd love to find her someone to spend time with her now, she deserves it! ;D i'm open to discussing different arrangements for the right person...I would be open to a trade for a pony for my daughter or a small kid friendly smaller horse...
I shared this in the other forum but this is a video of her being ridden by a college equestrian team student:
