OH, interesting Brooks. I've never read her stuff either and I probably should as I love a good mystery.

I've read (and forgotten) a few of these mysteries! Bara, I didn't know about the author's disappearance. It seems like a perfectly reasonable response to a spouse's stupidity. But if I owned the Old Swan, I'd tell the story at every opportunity.

Quite so, Ann. I don't think I've ever been to Harrogate, but I know that it is a 'genteel' spa town. Where better to hide out? Except Shetland, of course. I would be surprised if Mrs Christie even knew that Shetland existed!
There's also 'Partners in Crime' about a young 1920's couple called Tommy and Tuppence - they're not my cup of tea. But I love Miss Marple and the conclusions she draws from observing local characters in St Mary Mead. And I am positively in love with Hercule Poirot and his 'leetle grey cells'! Sorry Niaru, but he's Belgian, not French!
Have a quick check on the BBC series, Brooks. The Art Deco and Art Nouveau homes are absolutely beautiful.
Have fun - where are you up to? (No spoilers!)

She'll be on your shelves, somewhere, Ann! Set in Regency England - all powder, patches, beautiful clothes, highwaymen and romance.
Brooks, I've sent you 'Friday's Child' and 'Frederica' - let me know what you think!
