So, who you all going for today?
Much as Animal Kingdom and Shackleford have grown on me a bit, I really like Nehro for this and perhaps Master of Hounds.
My long shot is Santiva. Maybe I should box a trifecta?

Did you bet? How much did you lose!?
I missed the race, but have seen a couple of news reports about it. Muddy and surprising, I guess.

Didn't lose anything Ad, didn't bet. Must say Ruler On Ice might have been better named, Ruler In Mud, pretty impressive run in the mud. Gotta love that it was his first win in a Stakes race, what a race to pick for that. ;D Have to say, for a while I thought Santiva was actually going to be up there, but he really didn't do anything. Nehro managed a fourth place finish, so not too shabby in this kind of company. Master of Hounds didn't seem to do anything at all. Am impressed with Animal Kingdom and his jockey, first for his recovery from a near fall, then to compose himself and actually make up some ground at the end. Pretty game horse. Still don't think he's a mile and a halfer, but since there are so few races at that distance not really a problem for him. Bet we see Animal Kingdom and Shackleford battle it out in a Breeder's Cup race this fall. Wonder if anyone played the trifecta that came in? Paid $8268!

I know, Zen, I felt so bad for AK and his jockey. They very nearly fell down right at the beginning of the race. Scary! I loved the comments from Ruler on Ice's jockey right after he won. Impressive race for that horse. I bet the outcome would have been very different on a dry track tho...and while AK kept gaining ground despite having to come back from being 12 lengths behind the leader, Shackelford faded out way before the post. Interesting race!
