Darn it! I'm invited to a party on Sat. I was also invited to a party the day of the Derby and I missed the race (they didn't have cable, lol!). These guys are good friends and won't mind if I watch, tho.
So, can Animal Kingdom do it again? We need a Triple Crown winner!
I just read Mucho Macho's trainer's story, wow, I didn't know she got a heart transplant! And I didn't know she was from Massachusetts and trained at Suffolk Downs, where I got Charm!

I think Animal Kingdom stands a good chance at winning the Preakness, but don't think he'll go the distance for the Belmont. Especially against the fresh horses that will be running then. Then again, who knows? Concealed Identity looks good for this race too. Seems to be his distance. Wow, a heart transplant! Mucho Macho seems to have some heart too. Would love to go with the gray, Flashpoint, but so far he seems to be more of a sprinter. Is it me, but who else thinks Astrology should be gearing up for an eventing career in a couple of years, woof. This is why I don't bet on the horses unless it's a day out to the track. Just can't make up my mind.

Well, Animal Kingdom *almost* made it! If the race had been juuuust a little longer...darn it!!! But I was very impressed with how he came back from very last and had to go through and around all those other horses! I really like that horse. He's gorgeous, too.
Shackelford was very impressive too, he was the only one whose face was clean...cause he lead from the start! Good race.

Good thing I don't bet on racing. I was really wrong on this one, though I did think AK would be second, but not to Shackleford! He was a wreck going into the gate. MMM was my sentimental favorite, because of his trainer's story, and Mr Commons was just a cutie, so I was secretly hoping he'd overcome his odds and show in this race. All the wrong criteria for estimating a horse's potential!

LOL Ann, I'd be terrible at betting too, since I usually root for the cute horses with nice conformation...speaking of which, Dialed In is really cute too! MMM, Agility, not so much...lol

Not great at betting either. Best I ever did was at Keeneland, but usually I'm lucky to break even and more often out a few bucks. Good thing I don't make big bets. Since, I generally stick with place bets, would have been OK with Animal Kingdom there. Not that it would pay much... Anyway, the trainer of Flashpoint has decided Flashpoint is a sprinter, so I guess I was good at picking that and don't think we'll see him at the Belmont. I pick him for whatever Breeders Cup sprint race they enter him in. Will be interesting to see who goes on to the Belmont.

Ugh! I had the TRIFECTA and didn't bet!!!!!!!!!! After the Derby I really thought Shack would win the Preakness. Plus, he's my sentimental fave because he looks like Gib. But it would have paid like 1400 on a $2 bet for the trifecta. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
