Martha was one of the most expressive and intelligent horses I ever had the pleasure to know. It was on June 25th, 2010 that a horrible pasture accident happened and Martha broke his front leg. There was nothing that could be done except to release him from his pain. It has just been too difficult to put him in the memorial board, but I felt it was time. Martha and Goal came from the same farm, from where they were both race horses. Martha went on to be at Einsteins and Goal came to me. They did remember each other when Martha came to my farm. Billy loved to play with him and they could play for hours. Eagle had a certain amount of respect for Martha and they also got along very well. My farm will never be the same, and I know I am blessed to have had him in my life. RIP Martha Darling. I'll never forget you.

I never knew that Martha had passed until the video was being done. I just assumed that I had missed it somehow. Thank you for posting this.
Vale Martha. Hugs T!

I got Martha as a coming 6 year old, drove overnight to IL from Colorado to the be there early enough to see him. I actually looked at more then a few horses that day with Keely, but I knew I was bringing him home. He had a less then flattering picture on the CANTER site (looks a little downhill LOL), but I was so glad I had driven all that way to see him, I had a feeling about him. This was taken a week or two later, on Thanksgiving at my first farm in Colorado This was several years later, 3 or 4 I think These were taken after he healed from his coffin bone fracture and were at an unrec HT to get us ready for the season ahead. I think he won this IIRC I have a ton of pictures of us eventing, he was a solid Training horse and schooling Prelim when I retired him from eventing. He had fractured his coffin bone, we did a ton with him to heal it, took over a year, and 2 to come back to where he was before. We had a great time eventing and doing some jumpers, this horse was fantastic to jump, just amazing! Unfortunately, his hocks had enough and needed a low level, more laid back career. Martha truly is an Exracer's horse! After several rounds of hock injections, a year of Adequan and Legend monthly, I decided he deserved a less stressful career. He LOVED to work, didn't like to be out of it, so I looked for a home that might need to learn to jump low level, or a safe solid trail horse. I found him a new home, one who said she's be riding him and promised pictures and to take great care of him. After a few months I had a nagging feeling something wasn't right, I'm so glad I looked into it. I had to get a lawyer and a client near where he was to help me, then short term board him until he was healthy enough to be shipped back to VA. In that time, Terrie contacted me and it turns out, she really, really, really wanted him, so he went to her when he was healthy enough. Terrie then let another Exracer have him a few months for dressage, but he wasn't a good match for her, and I was going to bring him back to VA again, then after much discussion and emails, Terrie decided her farm was the place for him to be. So, he's really been all over with Exracers!!! Martha was so talented, he was a character, he was laid back, he was all business at a show, never spooky or silly, he was an old soul type. He was such a cool horse, one you could always count on. He was so well trained he was so much fun, things came so easy for him. People always asked me why I didn't change his JC name (I evented him as Martha Calling) and I kept saying, "You have to know him, he's such a Martha!" and it was so true. There will never be another horse like him, he was just that special to me, and to so many others.

I'm happy to say that I knew Martha briefly during his life and heard a lot about him. I think that I was there at Spring Gulch the day those photos were taken? I remember seeing Martha and Mikey both at the trailer It sounds like he had a similar ending to little Rainier. RIP, Martha Calling.
