shelley and I went on a really nice trail ride with JR and Cherokee... The boys were great, happy to be out and about in this almost 60 degree weather. Came back, tacked up rhea and put her on the lunge line. Pulled rhea up to the mounting block, she stood still while shelley got on first (yes you know me.. have to SEE it first lol) shelley took her around a few times at walk and trot.. she was amazing... WHAT A MOVER! she just floats.. I get on take her WALK TROT AND CANTER!!!!!! she accepts the bit wonderfully, has really good brakes very easy to bring up and down. You could sit her trot for days she is so smoooooooooooooooooooth...she doesnt even hold her head up like i was expecting.. she was reaching down for the bit.. After trotting her around both directions shelley kept telling me to try cantering her.. and after my captain experience you all know how fearful i am with being run away with, but i sucked it up and asked for canter.. after a few confused strides she went into a beautiful canter, she even was slow and i had to push her forward with my seat.. i tell ya, im truly AMAZED at this girl... i gots me a real good one!

not technically, she 's been off for 3 years but has not been ridden in that time, she has only race training, then she was a broodmare lol

I knew she was going to be a nice one. She just LOOKS like a nice one. HOWEVER...I want to tell you that the first few times I rode Teddy he was just like that. I was so thrilled at his SMOOTH trot and SLOOOOOW canter..I was in heaven. He kept his head low low low and reaching for the bit, but never sped up. He DID change a lot though...as you know. I think it all started one day when he found out how FUN it was to squeal and jump around. !!!!!

Too true SMay, I think its when they realise that they DO live in a horse holiday camp, and they're not just visiting. No more best behaviour - woohooo!!!! ;D But Neeners what a lovely experience, you guys will do just fine!

I don't know SMay, I think Rhea will be just fine. After all, she knew she wasn't going to the killers. Whereas Teddy knew he had been on his way, so he knew he had to con you into thinking he was a sweet horse to ride. Of course, once he realized you were hooked on him, he said YA HOO, let the fireworks begin.

Wow, Rhea sounds great!! Looks like you won't have a lot of "re-training" to do...unlike some of us... ;D

I was thrilled that Dineen let me ride Rhea....I swear she just floats on air....She is not only beautiful on the outside but inside as well.....A real heart of gold and a head that is straight on :horsie: I have to commend Dineen as well for walking through a very real fear of hers and conquering it head on.....Good girl Neeners!!! Hats off to you :brian: :coffee: :horsie:
