I haven't so much gained a ton of weight (about 5lbs) but I've gotten so UNFIT. I'm in a bigger size but don't weigh a whole lot more because I've replaced my muscle with fat.
The thing is, I'm just having a hard time to motivate myself. I used to job 3 miles a day, go to work, ride, watch what I ate.
Now, I eat whatever, don't even walk, and I'm exhausted after work. (I wait tables)
I know that the fitter I get the more energy I'll have and all, but ugh, I can't get my butt up to work out.
I hurt when I run because of an injury (being on my feet at all hurts) so I use that as an excuse even though it doesn't really hurt much more than normal.
I need a kick in the butt. What have you all done to motivate yourselves? Weight goals? A 5K? New outfit?

I know for me I wanted to get healthy. I would change one thing at a time. Making myself go for a walk, then making myself jog a few yards, then jogging longer. I also have been trying to eat healthier. I set little goals, and treat myself when I get there. For me smaller goals are easier to reach, and whatever the reward is faster. My goal now is if I can either lose 5 lbs, or at least firm some of the flabby areas, I am having a spa day this spring. Hair, nails, toes, and makeup. Tell people that are around you, and maybe they will do it w/ you, or help to motivate you.

If you wait tables, consider looking at something other than jogging as an exercise - ask me how I know! There is swimming, weight lifting, a nice exercise video that you find fun (kickboxing or dance) or my current favorite a trampoline (just doesn't have the same impact as feet hitting a solid surface). You just need to find something fun to do that constitutes exercise.

I might look into an exercise video! I love running, er, jogging, but its soooo cold outside. Gym membership is an option but its so pricey.

At one point I did a kickboxing one (cost a couple of dollars) and a yoga one. That was a good combination and I especially liked the kickboxing one. Right now it's p90x and New York City Ballet Workout. I added the trampoline because I seemed heavy on my feet and the trampoline is remedying that and it's so much fun - except it's getting very cold tomorrow for two or three days. There are so many videos that you can find one that's fun - a lot of them are online too. I think the YMCA's and municiple recreation centers have cheap memberships for a gym type environment. Good luck.

I know what you mean! I have such a hard time to get motivated. I really have to mentally give myself a kick in the butt sometimes! Good thing I have to walk my dog every day. I can't get motivated with DVDs or On Demand exercises. I have to go to a class, otherwise I never do it. Some gyms in my area have low-cost, short term commitment memberships that are really affordable. Maybe you could try something like that? Good luck!

Guilt..seriously, I guilt myself down there at least 3 times a week. It's in the basement of my work building, so I have no excuse not to go.
I probably should also add that I've been working 60+ hours the last few weeks 6 days a week and need an out for stress...which also motivates me. Although, some days I have to work through lunch and can't go.
I have the biggest loser DVDs and liked those a lot.
