Seems like I only get on once in a blue moon and then realize how much I've missed! I love everyone's pics!!!
Anyways, after finding what seemed to be the perfect home for Dallas last year, he came back. Girl lost interest. So he's looking for a home.
16h, bay, 8 yo, Doctor JR "Dallas" one of Mapleshade's graduates.
The good: sweet boy, loves people, pretty easy keeper for a TB, loads, ties, stands for farrier, lunges. Can carry a large man, has taken a 6'1, 250 lb beginner bf on trails. has done shows on the flat, trail rides in the mountains and in water, dressage clinics, medieval games... everything except jumping. which leads me to
the bad: Dallas has a sticky stifle. When he's in regular work, it doesn't bother him. I have him on a $40/mo. smarkpak and it works super. He needs to be worked 3-4 days a week to be in shape to do any sort of collection work. His end end is weak and I don't think he'd make a good jumping candidate. The first few rides, he needs a spanking (to use a mapleshade phrase) but after that, he'll be perfect.
He's been out in a field at a friend's house for about 6 months with no one riding him. I had put some feelers out but the time has come for him to find his own person. I have two young children who are demanding, baseball season is starting and my significant other does enjoy seeing me every now and again. there is no way I have the time or money to get Dallas into shape. If I could afford him, I would keep him as a pasture pet, but I just can't.
I have pictures if anyone is interested. You can email me at no1elliott9@yahoo.com or call at (478) 952-6114.
