I'm trying to help a local VA rescue run by a lovely woman. Adoptions have been slow and she has a lot of horse mouths to feed through the winter. If you could send a Christmas card with as little as a dollar tucked inside, it would go a long way towards the $400 she is short to pay the hay man. The address is: Central Virginia Horse Rescue 389 Boydton Plank Road Brodnax, VA 23920 Paypal donations are always welcome too: donations@centralvahorserescue.com www.centralvahorserescue.com/

Thank you Julia. The drought here really hurt us this year. I started putting out round bales of hay in July rather than October as we normally would. The farmers didn't make as much as usual either. I normally buy Teff from one farmer and round bales from him and another farmer. No Teff or rounds available from the one and we bought the other farmer out both his spring and fall cutting. What we are buying now we still get a pretty good price on at $30 for a 1200 lb round bale but it's twice what we normally pay per bale. The horses won't go hungry but I might have to buy on credit until we get some adoptions. I have never had to buy feed on credit so I'm scrambling not to have to start now.
