Poor Forrest, I think he has had a worse year then Porter. I'm glad he's sound on it! I always brought my dogs to the barn, and Ishi IS a well behaved dog, at 8 weeks I started to teach him what the barn was and meant. I tell him to lay down by the in gate, and "watch the horses" and he will not move until I get off. Then it's alot of tail and butt wiggling and Akita smiles ;D
What stinks is 99% of people who bring their dogs haven't trained them so all barn dogs get in trouble even the good ones, like Ishi. Dogs like that should not be at a barn (Poor trainer, she's in a pickle!) I really blame the owners. If they don't train the dog, then DON'T bring it to the barn. Ahhh, If only it were that easy!
Hope Forrest feals better soon!!!

Thanks for the concern everyone. Forest is doing well. He is back in regular turnout and will get ridden tomorrow probably.
Porter has definitely had a worse year than Forest. Do you have any new photos of him? Is he getting fatter? Forest lost a good deal of weight with the teeth problems, but is kind of gaining it back, slowly. His coat looks horrible though. He's been wormed, I've bathed him, and I groom him well, but he still looks bad.
Nothing will happen with the dog. The other dogs will chase the horses when you turn them out, but they don't nip or anything. The dogs get injured too, and it doesn't bother them. The heeler cross was rolled by Surge and it paralyzed his tail for a week or so. The rat terrier was kicked in the mouth and lost a tooth. 2 of the Bassetts were rolled, and the other Bassett was involved with the mini-weenie dog incident and almost got squished. I think the new guy got a piece of the heeler too, because after he nipped him, the dog was coughing like he kicked him in the throat. No marks though.
I wish my dog was well-behaved, but he's not so he doesn't go out in public much. To Petsmart every so often, the park, and he rides in the car alot, but that's it. He has been to the barn twice, but he stayed in the truck. He's scared of horses anyway.
