OMG, Jen?! When I saw the title of your thread, I just held my breath and hoped it wouldn't be Murphy when I clicked. I am so sorry and if there can be any consolation, you KNOW that I can relate as well as anyone. I am so sad for you and know how difficult it is to find that truly special horse. It makes the pain that much worse too.
Please tell Murphy to look for little Zeke up there over the rainbow somewhere. He probably needs some company ...

What a horrible horrible shock, Jen. I'm so sorry. No sense in second-guessing, but something so sudden - it's just shocking! I'm glad he didn't suffer long with whatever took him. I hope it was maybe one of those aortic ruptures or something that takes them so quickly and they don't feel a thing. RIP Murphy. That's just not fair.

Leaving out any details, we are fairly certain that he had some type of aneurysm. There just is not enough evidence to even assume at this point that he coliced. Thank heavens for my DH and my FIL. They took care of things for me today while I was a blubbering fool.
Either way, I take more comfort in thinking he went quickly and didn't suffer.
