Spider Murphy passed away sometime overnight in his pasture. I found him this morning. We can only think he may have coliced but at this point it really doesn't matter. I lost a great friend today. Murphy boosted my confidence and taught me to trust my ride. He went anywhere, tried anything and was so kind and so sweet. Hannah loved him and could get pony rides on him. I know I'll never find another horse as cool and unique as he was. Rest in Peace my friend. I'll miss you always. 3/17/02-10/31/10

Oh, no!! So very sorry to hear this, and when you two have been reunited and having such a great run. Deepest condolences -- it's so painful to lose them in the very prime, and he was such an amazing horse.

WHAT? I'm so sorry to see this. I haven't logged on for a week, and this is just about the worst thing I could see at the top. I'm so, so sorry, Jen. Big hugs.

Oh no! When I saw this on FB, I was so focused on the "Spider" that I didn't even think of Murphy. My goodness, I'm just so sorry, Jen. It was so easy to see what an amazing partnership you two were building, and I know how excited you were about the progress. I'm so sorry that your time with him was cut short.

I am so sorry Jen. He was truly one of the great horses. I'm so happy you had him again, but so sad it ended too soon, you guys were so awesome together.

Thank you all for the kind word. It means a lot. I know many of you have lost horses in the last year or two as well. I just can't believe it. I had hoped to take him to aiken this winter and possibly hit a show and school. I wanted to do the Dressage Team De Ville at Lake Eire College in April....go bareback riding in the snow this winter. I've been really busy this last month and have little time to ride either of my horses recently. I'm feeling a bit guilty because I didn't get to spend much time with him the last few days. I did rub his head and give him a kiss a few days ago when he came to the fence to visit....I just don't understand why things like this happen.
