Some of you may remember that my oldest daughter had rehomed Lane back in October due to feeling overwhelmed by a severe case of rainrot and the amount of training an OTTB needs. He had a great home there, but unfortunately, the couple who took him sold their place and so we brought him home. I had thought we would be able to keep him here but due to a split between myself and my significant other I am struggling to find the time to work with him and the money to keep up with board, shoes, etc. Lane is a 9yo gelding out of Indy Go Go and Parade Ground. He won 150k on the track and raced until he was 8. We took him off the track in January of 2009 and he was with us for 8 months, then with the couple in Ohio until May, and is now back with us. He has been ridden since coming off the track, and was ridden in May for the first time in 7 months and did fine. He was barefoot in Ohio but our place is rocky and he needs front shoes here to be comfortable. He has old osselets and has been off at times when put into training. He has not had xrays and seems sound at this time. The couple said he never took an off step while in Ohio at their place. This horse has a great mind and is a really cute bay. He is 15.3 hh and has, I think, decent conformation. I love this horse, but I can not train him myself and I can't afford to put him in training given my current situation. I have my tb, Ben, to care for and Tabby has Mandi. Lane deserves someone who can and will give him the time and training he needs. He may or may not be sound, I can not honestly say and I can't afford the vet bills to investigate the issue. He is currently sound but I was fine with him being a pasture ornament if need be, however, my financial situation has changed and it is creating a real hardship for me as a single mom. He is also the type of horse who wants a job and I just don't have one for him here. If anyone can offer this horse a better situation than I can please message me. He is currently living out at a farm in Tyrone, PA. He spent the summer pastured with and caring for a blind mare but is now out with other geldings since the mare crossed the bridge in early October. This is really hard for me, but I am hoping there is a better situation and a special person out there for him. Thank you.
