I've switched over to a Nikon D700 full frame for my expanding people photography so I'm selling the Canon line up www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=12977271&cat=511&lpid=&search=Update, the 20D and 50 mm lens have been sold. The 40D body, battery grip, 70-200 2.8 and 28-105 plus the accessories are still needing a new home.

Canons are user friendly to me ;D , but I'm doing more and more people and still need duplication of my equipment. It makes more sense to grab a D700 -oh wow this is a sweet camera! I'm so excited to move my business up a notch, and then a D300 for crop factor later than to spend $5,000 for a Mark IV that still has some comments in reviews about focus problems. I love my D40. It takes beautiful pictures and fits nicely in my hand and I find the controls really easy. (The Nikon D700 is larger and the on/of is not convenient.) However, you do have to work around some back focus issues and watch for what will tend to grab the focus. I'm being paid to shoot and I can't afford to have one shot lost to that. When I did the political campaign shoot, there were a few really great candidate shots that would have been good for literature use, but were back focused and I was pretty bummed.

I have a D70, its great for me, I haven't even tapped its potential yet, I'm quite the amateur! My mom has the D200, and she loves it.
I'm actually using my mom's 35-135mm lens from her Nikon F90 she bought years ago (I think the lens is like 15 yrs old?) its still amazing, shoots great and I do love the weight of the metal lens lol.

Yep! I'd love a D90 for a back-up body, it's a great camera. Or, if I can afford it next year a used D200 for the 2nd body (better for eventing than the D700 which is a full frame body). For what I do I need the 2.8 aperature and for horses 100 + mm so ouch ouch ouch . . . why does Nikon charge soooo much more for their lens?

I have the D80 and Love it. I never got used to the Cannon. I'd love to pick up a better zoom but simply can't afford it right now.

I am a Canon person from waaaaaay back. I have used Nikon as well but tend to keep going back to Canon. Either way, that is a sweet set up.

Totally agree Inga...it is sweet.
Here's some dating back for you. I still have my Dad's Minolta film camera with five different lenses. It's about 40-ish years old and still takes great pictures. Back then the cameras were not made with plastic and seemed to really hold up well. The light meter doesn't work anymore and it would be more expensive to try and fix the camera (other small details) now than to buy a new one. I won't ever get rid of it though....too many memories!

Luci, because they last forever! Well, the 15yr old lens I use certainly did lol. Not sure about the new ones, their not metal like the older ones.

That's so cool Jen. I have my dad's Zeiss Ikon. It isn't working and needs a part, but I keep hoping some day I'll run across another to use for parts. He was into macro stuff an there are a bunch of lenses.
Welkin, I've got to go and tap my L lenses to see if they are metal. I'm curious! I'm pretty sure the 70-200 is. I'm not sure about the mid range though.
