Oh man! What is this? I just got a call and my horse is in transit to the vet. (The woman who works with me and my beastie is awesome). She went to pull him out for her Tuesday training session with him so I could work on circles/symmetry tonight and noticed he had good cut on the back of his leg with a nice flap of skin and was bleeding.
The good news is he is weight bearing and happy so I'm trying not to be worried. He hopped right in the trailer for her. Good boy! There isn't anything I can do at the moment, but wait to find out how deep he cut himself. Shoot! I'm was just finally getting this circle thing and he's been soooo good. Poor buddy! Ugh.

Eeek! Another injury among us? here's hoping it is a somewhat quick fix and an even quicker heal. Where on the leg was the cut?
Good luck and sorry about the circles. Maybe you could just practice them yourself? hee hee hee....

Whewww. I'm sooooo relieved. He didn't cut his tendon, just a nice cut to the outside of the back right leg and lots of blood to clean it out - kind of creepy cleaning up his stall. So he's got the usual stitches, pressure bandage, sulfa, bute etc. I went to the stables on my lunch (what dust on my black pumps? Oh, excuse me that's hay stuck in my hair) and looked everywhere to see where he cut himself, planning to use the world's supply of duct tape and padding and let the stable owners know what I need fixed. I took the manure fork and sifted shavings, walked in his turnout. Nothing. I think he must have knocked his leg with a shoe when he was rolling? Wierd. He was so good for the vet. They all thought he was great. Ah yes, my boy's a cheap drunk! I'm so fortunate that my trainer noticed it so quickly and stepped in. Yikes, she is already nurse maid to half the crew at the moment, and now mine's on the out list too. I couldn't ask for better care or a better place to have my horse. Scarey to think what could have happened. :brian:
