BooBoo's hind right foot twists when he walks. He's done it for quite some time. I can't pin point when it started. When he pushes off, it twists to the inside. I always chalked it up to no big deal, but I've recently started to wonder what's up with that. Thoughts?

First thing I would check is if the inside and outside wall height on his feet is equal. Some horses wear unevenly due to conformation. Sometimes it's due to poor trimming. Just my experience.

I have a friend who I once rode a lot of benefit trail rides with had a circumstance on one trail ride where her Gelding was twisting one of his hinds as he walked on and trotted. She could tell from feeling his gait that something was NQR. It was a farrier's error in not trimming him correctly. She was really put-out with her son-in-law, he was the one who set those shoes.

Yep...sometime's it's conformation, but usually it's because they're not getting the balanced trim they need. I would point that out to the farrier and make sure he pays attention to that.

He's had several farriers over the period of time I've seen this. Might take some time to get it fixed. I'll point it out the farrier next time around.

Is he sickle hocked? I've seen quite a few horses with this conformation that twist behind. We had a QH who did it from as long as I can remember. We tried changing this and that for shoeing and nothing ever changed it. He needed to have his hocks injected about once a year but never had any other problems from it.

I'd have the hock looked at first then go from there....... could be soundness issue could be conformation ....
