One of the kids asked to ride BooBoo at camp today. It was around 90 degrees, but we stayed in the indoor and got a little bit of a breeze going through. We played musical stalls and ended up with walking 90% of the time and trotted about 10%. All that to say he didn't work hard AT ALL. He was standing in the middle of the ring at the end of our ride and started stomping at flies. Every time he stomped, he made a whistling sound out of his nose. This happened about 20 times. We checked him over, looking for any thing that was adjusted incorrectly, took off his tack, walked him around and it still happened. He didn't seem to be in any discomfort. We took him into the barn and the girls hosed him off, just in case. He stopped doing it. No one at the barn had ever experienced anything like this. Have you ever heard a horse make a whistling sound from his nose???
