Serengeti, aka Surge, the chestnut with 4 stockings, was purchased today by the people how had him on trial. Oddly enough, he is at the barn where the trainer said he looked skinny and wormy. I kind of didn't like the idea of him being there, but the 12 year old girl he was bought for loves him, and her father really liked him alot. Enough to stick up to the trainer that THIS was the horse they wanted, so I think they will take good care of him. They also said that the owner of the barn would walk by Surge several times throughout the day and say what a nice horse he is. They promised to send of his 1st wins with them too.
But then yesterday was the auction. So I go in the barn this morning, and there is a new, cute bay gelding in a stall. He looks pretty skinny, but has a kind eye and is very sweet. He is an exracer that my trainer bought at the auction yesterday. He is 9 years old and is an Appendix QH, about 16.1 hands, and light bay with 2 rear socks and a blaze. His registered name is something like Sugar's Last King. We took this guy down with Forest to the washracks to bathe them, and I felt so sorry for him. His tail was all matted and looked and felt like a big stick, so we were trying to get it unmatted some when Alison found metal wire in his tail (like a coat hanger). It took us a while to get it out because it was a huge piece and it was all wrapped around in his tail. I will try and get some pictures of him tomorrow for a before and after type thing. He was playing around in the arena tonight and he has gorgeous movement---a H-U-G-E stride too.
