Today, my friend Alison and I were scrubbing her horse's mane to get the dandruff stuff out of it. We have a little wash area off to one side of the covered arena where we can hose legs, or rinse off horses quickly since the washracks are down the drive a bit. It's kind of hard to explain, but our barn is built around the covered arena with stalls on both sides. So, we were scrubbing away and suddenly the horse started freaking out, just going nuts. We were pinned against one of the side rails and couldn't go anywhere. I grabbed Alison because I was going to try and slide out through the rails and bring her through with me, but finally the horse moved over enough that we could move and stopped freaking out. What made the horse freak out? A friggin mini-weenie dog and a basset hound crawled between his back legs and we didn't see them. I am so anti-barn dog now, it's not funny. The weenie dog actually followed it's owner down and just doesn't know how to act around the horses. I mean it's not her fault, but she is going to get hurt. The bassett never gets around the horses like that, but I guess she was playing with the weenie dog. Anyway, it was pretty scary there for a second and I was just waiting for the impact.
I almost forgot to mention that I survive that unscathed, but come home and almost break my leg. Me and the devilpup were playing in the house (maybe there is something to that no running in the house thing your mom always told you). This game is where we run back and forth down the hallway taking turns chasing each other. We get down the hallway by the foyer and devildog spins around and takes off to chase me, but I haven't reached the end of the hall yet. He crashes into me leg head on which sends him flying backwards into the foyer wall yelping, and me on the ground in pain. We are both fine now except he has a headache and I have a huge egg on my shin and it hurts to put weight on it. I guess if it's swollen in the morning and still hurts, I'll have to go get an x-ray.
