Lets face it, I have a junk food junkie diet. Even my salads are covered in blue cheese dressing. I eat horrible, just don't like the healthy stuff and I am overly active. On the go from 5:30am and don't even get home until 7pm, then I'm usually doing stuff around the house, so basicly I don't sit my butt on the couch to relax until around 9pm, then off to bed around 10:30pm 11pm then start all over again. I'm tired! I need energy!
Vitamins just don't seem to cut it with me. So, I'd love to get into some protein smoothies. Something easy to make, just shake and go! Would love to use it as a meal replacement in the mornings since I have a hard time finding time to eat and also get some energy from it.
I currently tried the other day EZ ALL IN ONE PROTEIN SMOOTHIE and loved it, however didn't love the price! Can anyone recommend something to this effect that will fit into a smaller budget and work with giving an extra boost of energy as well as all my daily intake I'm missing???

Ahem. Vitamins? Can't take 'em. What I can take are those childrens' gummy bear vitamins. Totally dig those babies.
You can make protein shakes pretty easily. My parents make them for breakfast, and my dad actually makes them the night before and then they shake 'em up in the AM and drink them. Whey protein or soy protein powders are pretty good and you can get them in a variety of flavors. I'm a fan of the Protein monster juice drinks by Odwalla, but I only get those occasionally because they're so expensive!
Google protein shakes, and you will get about a zillion recipes. Be one with your blender, Fancy...

I use whey ultimate from gnc. Its about 35 for a big canister, and last me about 2 months. I also got a blender ball shaker cup, and it mixes it really well. I also make it the night before, because *i use skim milk, and the colder the better. I really like the chocolate, and the straberry is good when mixed w/ crystal light.

Smoothies are great, but I found the easiest way to keep up with the protein is with nuts. I get a bag of trail mix (I like mixed nuts and raisins, but there are a million other kinds too), and I mix in a bag of M&Ms. This has worked great for me because it requires zero preparation, can be stuffed into a bag, and does not spoil. You can stash a bag in your car, your purse, at work, etc. It also gives you a lot of calories, which is great if you are active and are not watching your weight, and is cheap for the amount of nourishment you get. I also found that I can eat a handful immediately before riding and not feel sick (ok, my horse is really bouncy!) so that is a plus.
You might want to look at Clif bars too. They are $1 at Trader Joe's and have lots of good stuff in them. You need to try a few flavors to find something you like. I find that some are icky and some taste really good. I like Peanut Toffee Buzz, Chocolate Almond, Oatmeal Raisin, and a few others. There are lots of similar bars on the market. I find a lot of them too sweet but that is a personal opinion, so try some a find what you like. Also very convenient, don't spoil, no prep, and cheap!

Actually best protein source is egg whites. Hard boil a bunch and take a cooler with you.
However, I love this smoothie. Vanilla Whey protein canned pineapple some pineapple juice Ice -blend-I use magic bullet-tastes like a pina colada.

Breakfast smoothie: 1/2 banana, some cacao powder, flax seeds, spirulina, frozen acai berries or mixed frozen berries, I add 1 scoop full of Spira-Teen vanilla, filtered water, and ice cubes. Blend. If you want an extra boost, add CANADIAN maple syrup! This is very filling and will last you all morning.
