***UPDATE 10/5 Stormy has been sold to a wonderful family here locally. He will have his own young girl to love on him. Sad, but excited! ***

Stormy is a 10yo bay 16.1hh Thoroughbred gelding with a star/snip. He came off the track when he was 6, and since then has had basic dressage training, jumping, been trail ridden, and to schooling shows. His first schooling show was in the Hopeful Hunters at Chagrin Valley, where he placed in one of the over fences classes and was 3rd in Hunter Under Saddle. He has also been to Blue Lakes just for exposure. He handled it all wonderfully, ears forward the entire time! He has been extensively trail ridden as well: through the Cleveland Metroparks, West Branch State Park, Headwaters Trail in Mantua, around our property in Mantua Township, and even went horse camping in Little Valley, NY. He loves being outside the ring! Stormy hauls with a buddy, loads, ties, and clips with no problems. He has schooled 2’6” and shown in the schooling jumpers at 2’3”. He has changes over fences and simple changes on the flat. He is a lovely mover, with a very cute hunter-type jump. Stormy has potential in hunter/jumper, eventing, dressage, or even as a hunt horse. His first minitrial is Sunday September 13th at South Farm, and the following week he will be at Grand River again for the Hunter Pace. He is regretfully for sale due to my job conditions. Oh la la, he looks good in those photos! Now when you say he "hauls with a buddy," does he have trouble hauling alone? I rarely rarely RARELY haul a single horse, but it's just good to know in advance, so you are prepared...

In our trailer, he does have issues hauling alone. We have the built-in mangers in ours, and he has gotten his front feet up in the manger when he hauls alone. He's quiet and easy when he's got a buddy, and has hauled in lots of different types of trailers (stock, slant-load, ramp, step-up). If I had a slant, I would try to haul him alone in that since he can't really move around as much. Or a stock trailer that he could move around in without anything to get hung up on.

And also, just as a side note, he doesn't panic when he gets his feet up in the manger. We back him off, and he loads right back in again. It's really strange, which is why I included that he hauls well with a buddy.

what a silly boy he is! I remember that time you said he got up in the manger. My trailer doesn't have mangers, just chest bars in front. I wonder if he would try to get over the chest bar...I guess the key with him is to get him on the trailer, GO, and get him off the trailer as soon as you're there.... so he has no time to be a silly dork and climb things!

SUCCESS!! Minitrial went great, there and back just fine with Kim's Luke as a buddy. We all had a great time, and a great day! We got through our dressage test with a few pilot errors, but finished our division on our dressage score of 40.5 to place 7th in the division. I'm exhausted and he's tired, but what a GOOD BOY!!! I'm proud of him

And yes, with the trailering thing, that's what we've been doing is getting him on just before we leave, and taking him off as soon as we get there. No recurrences, and thankfully he ties well so sticking him to the side of the trailer as soon as we get somewhere works well! It was pretty funny at the minitrial...Kim would put Luke ON the trailer to keep him happy, and Stormy was tied right outside! They pretty much spent the day that way
