It has been almost 5 months since surgery. I am 80# lighter, but things have started to slow on the scale. Within the last 2-3 weeks I have finally started feeling much better, and have started exercising. I'm not sure if I am putting on muscle, or what, but I need to break through this plateau. I have 60 # more to loose in the next 15 months according to my surgeon. I am eating 4-5 small meals a day, around 600-800 calories a day. Any suggestions?

That's a lot, congrats! Do you measure yourself? I was always told to go by that more than pounds.
On anything medically supervised and 600-800 calories I would only ask my physician. That's such a narrow margin for error.
Good luck though!

You've lost 80 lbs in 5 months, which averages 16lbs a month and you hope to take of 60 lbs in 15 months, which averages 4 lbs a month, or 1 pound a week. Which is only 25% of your initial fast loss rate. My understanding of healthy weight loss is no more than 1 or 2 lbs a week and you have already achieved a great deal. As your weight goes down, the number of calories to sustain your weight also goes down, so it seems perfectly reasonable to me that the rate of loss would also slow. Muscle weighs more than fat so don't go by just weight. I agree with measuring inches (or centimetres as we do in Canada). Congratulations on your success!

I talked w/ my surgeons dietician, and she told me to start eating 600-800 more a day. She thinks Im exercising so much my body thinks I'm starving. I''l try to add some more calories, and see if that helps break this stall. I also measured myself, and have lost about 65"!!!

That's awesome, Lisa! Congrats! Keep up the good work. I struggled with a weight plateau for some time. I couldn't seem to get down below 160. I worked for my dressage trainer as a working student and lost 10 lbs! lol I'm now on the elliptical AND riding every day and I'm hoping to build up more muscle and burn a bit more fat. I'm almost to my goal of 150. :-)

150 is my goal too. I have a year and a half to get there, but the scales have not moved for almost 5 weeks.
