Does any one remember situation that Boyle heights kid had with his/her horse? The one that kept loosing hair .? Ive got a similar problem and was gonna look it up and cant find the page.
Or if anyone remembers that . and what happened . How to stop it from spreading. The pictures he had on line are the same as what is going on with mine. but I have noticed mine is a little flaky, and i believe bhk was not.
anyway thanks for any helpful suggestions

Horses can lose hair due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies/imbalances, lice, fungus and other skin conditions, and sometimes from hormonal changes. If the hair loss is wide-spread, it's a good idea for the vet to take a look and a skin scraping. If it's localized to one area, using a topical anti-fungal solution is a good first effort.

ok thanks and the skin area looks black once there hair falls off. but i have noticed that you have to keep putting stuff on it to keep it at bay.
The problem is: Its like its waiting for me to slip up a day, so it will spread again, Ive got it so that its not speading but it dosent look like its tring to grow back hair.
The hair loss is in the halter areas. I think it came from a Contaminated halter. Then It Spead to his shoulder be fore i could slow it down.
I Shampoo The spots every day with a medicated antibacterial shamopoo, and he gets a full bath with the shampoo at least 2 times per week, if the weather permits. each time after the shampoo gose on, i use MTG. Its an antifungle and has some pretty good stuff in it but? i just dont know if theres another way i Should be treating it.
I said ive slowed it down, With my luck I'll probley find a new spot tomorrow. lol

Yes...it turned out to be lice. I've never seen lice in horses so I don't know if it looks the same or not. I would think that maybe if you got a lice comb and tried that maybe you would be able to see them.
mta: Be careful with using the MTG and then putting him out in the sun. I've heard of horses having their skin burned from that.
