Hi everyone! Does anyone have experience with a horse that has 'sticky stifles'? Is it mostly fitness related? If the condition appeared while not in work, does that indicate anything? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

From my reading there are 4 different stifle problems. Some respond to banamine, some stall rest, our pony does better with exercise. When she's stall bound she sticks, trotting makes her feel better. And when I notice it at night I'll rub some absorbine on it. I've also heard of blistering, but my vet doesn't like that option as arthritis can sometimes happen.

One of my horses does have a stifle issue with sticking. When he is kept in the stall too long, his stifle will lock and once it locks boy its hard to get it to release. A larger turn out and more exercise usually keeps that issues to a very minimum.
