Maybe I'm overreacting. Someone please tell me I'm just venting for nothing...yesterday Beau's RH leg was a little warm, esp. by the pastern. He didn't move badly and so I had a short lesson, my one teacher said he didn't look bad moving around (we've been just walk/trot) and maybe just stocked up. He was a bit better/cooler at the end of the lesson. I came in today, same story but both H legs though he was lying down relaxing (he very often does; as long as he doesn't look ouchy and responds to the faint crinkle of a peppermint wrapper, I'm not worried). But when I felt his legs I led him in and asked her again, same response, same riding for the same time. Same OK movement. I figured maybe his legs were also warm from his lying down on them? However, his legs weren't much cooler afterwards, like yesterday. Please tell me I'll come in tomorrow, and that he'll be JUST FINE and my other teacher, who's returning from her trip, will confirm it and I'm eating my liver for nothing Would the scurfy stuff I've been gradually clearing off his cannons make a difference? She said it might be the skin and not the legs themselves, and when I sprayed some dilute Listerine on them, little man was a bit cranky about it...Yes, he's still a bit cranky about grooming though I have to say he's so much better with the vacuum cleaner. No, he figured out The Big Scary Noise-making Mo-sheen in all of 1 1/2 minutes ;D

As far as I know stocking up happens in two legs at at time. Maybe a small sprain in one leading to the stocking up after as he shifts his weight to the good leg? If he's sound I don't know that I'd worry for a few days.

Stocking up doesn't have to be on both legs, one can be greater then the other. If we are talking about hind legs, it usually indicated poor circulation (ie laying down, standing in one place too long, poss injury such a cut, or a recent casting, etc). Does the stocking up go down after exercise? If we are taking about front legs, I'd be concerned with an inflamed cut. Did you say your horse has scabs? I'm guessing from recent stractches? If thats the case then, yes the horse should so some signs of heat and stocking up.
