Do you use a vet or administer yourself? Beryl needs to do the 7 dose every 4 days for 28 days. I have given plenty of shots IM to my QH-but he is also really good at receiving them. Should I use my vet. I haven't called for price yet but that is a lot of farm calls.

I had my BO (who's also a nurse) give the injections for me. I also bartered with the vet about price, told them I found a good deal on Adequan online (much cheaper than what they wanted to charge me for it at the vet's office) and my vet agreed to sell it to me for that price. If you're used to giving injections, go for it.

If you're comfortable doing the injections IM, I don't see why you can't do it yourself, unless Beryl isn't so good receiving them and you're more comfortable having the vet adminster them.

Ha! Niaru I did the same thing...told the vet the online price and got the vet to agree to selling it to me for that price....
I give Butter her Adequan IM shot once a month. It is easy because she is soo good about it...
Guiltygirl...try it yourself with the vet there the first time if you need to, then go for it yourself!

You may want to double check that protocol - every four days for 28 days is a lot... my vet uses the original Adequan prescribing protocol , which is 2 shots in the first month, 2 weeks apart, then monthly thereafter. That stuff is expensive!
(and my BO does my shot for me.)

Ask your vet to show you how to do the injection the first time, then you should be fine on your own.
When I start a horse on Adequan, I do one shot each week for four weeks in a row, then once a month after that.
