Ok, well, to start off, Lukey has rain rot. >.< Despite getting brushed regularly, and having a shelter, he has rain rot. I noticed this about 4 days ago. How in the world do I get rid of it? It's winter, I can't give him a anti-bacteria bath or anything. Suggestions? I want it gone ASAP. Poor boy.
And, on wed. I was just sitting on Luke bareback and he bunched up all his muscles. I thought he was ready to rear, but he stretched his front legs out and LAID DOWN, While I was on him! I got off him quickly and walked him around, and he wasn't lame or anything. Today it felt like he was really weak in the legs, almost like his legs were going to give out.
Any ideas? He's not lame at all, he's quite spunky, but he seems a little...idk, not quite 100% right to me.
And, to top it off, he has a crack all the way down his hoof wall. Help?! What do I do? Can I still ride him? How can make sure it doesn't get any worse?
My pony is falling apart!!!
UPDATE: Well, I'm an idiot! Why didn't I think of this before?! So, I said Luke has rain rot. Well, I failed to notice that it was on his withers and a little bit along his spine. So today the mystery was solved. Whenever I put pressure on his back he would hollow his back, cringe, and tried to lay down. So, this explains him laying down while I was on him. I think he developed rain rot because of lack of Vitamin A. His eyes are wee little bit runny, and he's not eating grass with a lot of nutrience in it anymore, which all points to lack of vitamin A. So..my pony isn't sick, he just has rain rot! I cleaned the area with betadine and MTG. And I just need to get him on a vitamin supplement. I think I need a chiropractor for his back. How much do they usually cost? And how many times should Luke have one?
As for the hoof crack, any suggestions?
