Chris - I was thinking the same thing on my way to feed last night, spring is almost here! I was also thinking that soon I will have NO excuse for NOT riding - once I get ALL the mud and hair cleaned off!! My guys are starting to shed, big time!

I cleaned off Star yesterday and went r iding... he's shedding by the handfuls.. ugh.. horse hair everywhere!
Say, plan on the 6th of April... my other friend wants to ride her own horse instead of Zab! I took Zab out on Sunday. We rode for an hour and a half and he never broke a sweat... he's fit! chris

Oh I sure hope ur right....nobody here, dogs and horses are shedding yet and the deer are down to eating bark and small branchs, I feel so bad for them. I have noticed a lot more lil animals have been coming out the past week or so, maybe thats a signs of spring. This has got to be the worst winter, cold wise, I can remember since Ive been on the east coast...SPRING< SPRING< SPRING

Okay, that will probably fit into my schedule MUCH better!;D But, I've lost track - where's that ride at? I'm not sure if I can make the Maybelle thing (WANT to) - my husband wants me to go to a wedding for people I don't know. I am trying to finagle out of it.

The ride is at Perry Lake. I plan to get there late afternoon on the 5th. You can camp out in the Hilton! I'll bring everything, unless you want something special to eat...Just bring riding clothes and your helmet!

*sitting in her igloo with her dog sled at the ready outside* I wish it were spring! Or even a *hint* of spring would be nice... ooog...-32 with the windchill for this morning's walk to work. *l* them geese'll probably turn right around once they hit the Canadian border

PIGS are gonna fly before we get spring around here!!! It is even too cold to put the horses out, since we have windchills down to -45°C. I open a door, and they try to hide, not that I blame them. Even the cats hate to hear a door open, they run downstairs and hide. I dunno, Helen, I don't think the geese will get any farther than SD, or Idaho, too cold there too. On the other hand there IS a benifit to that too......no shrieking hordes of those :curse: white :curse: geese

*l* they'd be geese-cicles if they came any closer! I don't mind the snow, since we need the precipitation, but why can't it be just a bit warmer?
There was a group of tourists in Starbucks the other day that commented on how environmentally friendly we are in Calgary...huh?... apparently they thought we had electric cars since they were lots of them plugged in everywhere. Guess if you come from warms climes, block heaters don't exist :-=

Helen, I have heard that little story before. It is rumoured to have happened here too, but I dunno. Regardless, it IS funny!!!!ROFL What I was surprised to find out when I worked ordering vehicles for the oil patch was that block heaters were NOT standard equipment, and had to be ordered separately, in what is called a 'Winter Package' that includes different thermostat, special fuel injectors and a different heater core - I was just shocked!!!!ROFL In any case, the only plants you do not need to special order from are the Canadian plants, as anything that is shipped west of some arbitrary line in Ontario is equipped automatically with The Winter Package. I wonder how those places that do not automatically get Winter Package are doing this winter!!!!

I had one of those heaters in my Subaru when I lived in Wisconsin. We all had block heaters if we wanted our cars to start, LOL! Even then, it was like driving away on square tires when it got way below zero..

Canasta and Briana are both shedding like you wouldn't believe. I got a good 4 handfuls of hair of Brie last night. Although, I did have to put Canasta's winter blanket on her, she is also starting to shed. I just wish they would hold onto their hair until these frigid temps warmed up.

Spring? Huh? Yeah!!!!! I actually can see the ground right now! No grass, just inches of sinking muc...but ground at least.
Chris, I didn't know you did distance riding lessons! I wanna take some. When can I start??? I have a leaping arab I'd like to get into that. The way I see it, if I ride her up there for a lesson we'll be half way there?
And then will you come pick us up :hahaha: :hahaha:
Lesson: One should not laugh at one's own stupid joke.
Really....can't I hire you for some lessons. You'd drive down right?
