"Charlie" belongs to one of my adult students. He's 23, in excellent health, totally sound and showing no signs of slowing down. Flea-bitten grey, about 15.1h, very stocky build. She purchased him as a trail mount four years ago but has never been able to really bond with him in the saddle. On the ground, she's given him excellent manners and spends a lot of time schmoozing with him, which he soaks up. But under saddle he likes to move out and she likes to mosey. (He's not rude and not a runaway... just likes to puff up and strut now and then.) He's an air-fern (easy keeper) and grows a coat like a yak, so he's perfectly happy living out. Gets along best with a confident rider/handler... he's never even thought about playing hard-to-catch with me in the field, but he's got my student's number and will often make her chase him. Irritating to mares in season, so pasturing him with geldings would be wise. I think he'd love an active life on the trails, but he's also the kind of horse you can pull out of mothballs now and then and go for a pleasant ride.
PM me if you're interested in seeing pics.
