The poor girl has been having a terrible time for months with her feet She had gotten better after the vet visited but was still ouchy and then yesterday, she came up really lame on her left front.
I'm thinking abscess this time as it is only the one foot this time rather than sore all around the way she was after the bad trim. So I cleaned up the foot and soaked it in a tub with warm water and lots of epsom salts and then decided to try this stuff called Bannix. I have a Davis soaking boot so I put a few layers of gauze in it and saturated with Bannix per the instructions and put it onto her foot. I also gave her some bute because she was so sore. I was just out doing the morning feed and Poppy looks a ton better already ;D I know the bute is probably helping a lot but I think the soaking boot is doing a good job too. She still had the boot on this morning - she is the BEST patient ;D
It says to do this for 4-5 days so I replaced the gauze (it was filthy even though her foot looked clean when I put the boot on yesterday!) and soaked with more Bannix. It was funny because she wasn't at all sure about the boot when I put it on yesterday, but today she was happy to have it back on, so it must feel good and she knows it is helping.
Her feet also suffer from persistent thrush and this is also a treatment for thrush so I am going to buy another boot so we can treat the other foot at the same time. Hopefully Poppy will be feeling better soon. She is eating well and her weight is good - just need to get her feet fixed!
