well the vet was out late yesterday evening and he checked her out really well and thinks that the atibiotic we had been useing just wasnt enough and she is starting to become infected in 3 of the cuts. He isnt worried thou and says its not bad and should be fine in a couple days with the stronger meds. She was only sore looking due to the swelling so its not a soundness issue so to speak, big reliefe for me. This isnt my regular vet that I use but its his partner that usualy handles the other side of the county and I really liked him too. He used a big bright light and inspected all her cuts and scrapes really well and he thinks that it was some kinda rusted wire that did this, that she got herself caught up in it. He thinks this because near one cut thats kinda up under her butt close to her udders but still on her leg had a couple of tiny rusty looking metal peices, almost to small to see that we missed when we first cleaned her up that first night. The small rusty flakes were in a small patch of dried blood that I missed the first time and since its so cold, only 10F today, I cant hose her and am just washing the cuts so its been stuck there out of site and hiding since it happened. There is no rusted wire fencing but it is an old dairy farm from years and years ago so there could have been an old piece of barbed wire hiding in a bush or something that she just happen to find. I dont know why it wouldnt have been found after she was hurt by me or the barn owners since they say they looked all over the pasture really well and I have a couple times also, unless they removed it and lied to me which is a possibility since that would make they responsable as far as our boardi9ng contract goes. Anyways thou I am not worried about how it happened anymore and I just want Tango to get well and for us to move soon. Vet also gave her a mild seditive and he cleaned out the 3 worst cuts really well again so they could drain out better, he trimmed off a lil bit of the deadened skin around the edges of the one to reduce the chance of proud flesh and to help speed thehealing on it too. Everything looks good today and shes feeling better already also. I sat with her till after 1am last night cause I was worried about her having the seditive but she was fine and I think just loved having some late night company and attention LOL, I sure froze thou. So basicaly everything looks good today and she will be fine in a couple weeks he thinks. Vets coming back in a coule days to check on the worst cuts and he said with the one really bad one he might want to clean it all out again, he will see how its looking then and decide if he needs to or not. I added a few more bags of bedding to total 12 bags in her 24x24 stall so I am sure she will be standing only on clean bedding since its dirt underneath, she sure likes it and is veryhappy tolay down and even roll around.
