So Mimi has a "distinctive personality" during certain periods! I wouldn't say she is grumpy, but she gets really preoccupied with the boys. She will squeal, roll, whinny, ignore her food, go a bit loco. She has gotten the nickname of "the red light district." She was encouraging the 6 month old colt to break down the fence to get to her So can you all recommend any supplements to bring down the estrogen level?

I have heard that "moody mare" is a good supplement but haven't tried it. Thinking I will next spring though on Bella as she is a pretty hot item around here at certain times of the month with the boys and there ends up being a bit of an issue over it! She isn't horrible either but is more "up" to ride and handle at that time of the month. Vet says that may calm down a bit as she becomes used to her cycles (we just started noticing her cycling, and so did the "boys" this summer).

I think that's part and parcel of owning a mare... If you are planning to keep her longterm, you could look into spaying.. I've read really really good things about it. I know a lot of people try herbal remedies but it all seems a bit hit and miss.

thanks for the tips, I will try mare moods! I don't really mind the behavior, she is a good citizen undersaddle. I think she just annoys the other people at the barn/geldings with her teasing
