I was wondering if anyone has ever fed cranberry to their horses for urinary track health? Cosmo is coming along very well but his urine is cloudy and gross still. I take cranberry pills, so I was thinking maybe they would help him too. Does anyone know if its OK?

I'm not sure. I hope someone else knows. I don't see where it would hurt him, but just not sure.

I've seen people feed vinigar, so I don't see why not.

What are you feeding him? Have you had him checked out to find out why his water is cloudy? Also, if you don't catch him whizzing for the whole stream, the last part may be cloudy anyway. What we used to do if they were cloudy all the time was feed blood and kidney powder.

He has been with me for 4 weeks now and came to me in bad shape. He is getting 3 oz of farnam weight builder, 1 oz of dmac (joint sup), 1 oz of dumor multi vitamins, mixed into a small soup can of grain. He gets about a bail of hay a day as well as pasture. He is drinking about 3 - 4 pails of water a day as well. I actually didn't see him peeing, I heard it. *sigh* He likes to pee in the runway when I'm cleaning his stall. I was thinking of the blood and kidney powder but no where here sells it

if you have only seen the pee after it hits 'bottom' it always is cloudy, it oxidises quickly and turns rather nasty looking. I wouldnt worry about it in this case.....but you can feed a tablespoon of baking soda as that is the main component of blood and kidney powder anyway.

Geldings normally have cloudy urine. No need to treat. If you're worried, catch some in a cup and take it to your vet (refrigerate it if not right away) for a urinalysis.
