So, we have this new colt in our barn and I noticed he has been rubbing his tail. I busted out the MTG that has worked great on every horse I've used it on and have never had any of them prostest to it, etc. So, I put it on this colt and he starts snorting and doing that studly squeal and kept looking at his tail.
I've never known MTG to sting so I was thinking it might of been the smell, what do you all think?

I've had two animals that didn't do well with MTG. I think it irritated them.
The pony would get really itchy wherever I put it on her. She was sorrel. Don't know if that makes a difference.
My one horse itches and looses more hair in the spot with the MTG. I tried it on him once and never again.
My other horse likes it fine and loves when I rub it into his tail. (That's Snickers. Go figure.)
I think it can burn some horses' skin. You should not use it when they will be going out into the sun.
Whenever my guys start rubbing their tails, I worm them and then wash all their back-end parts. For the pony mare, that also included her utter. They always seem to feel better after that.
If you don't want to do a full cleaning, maybe just take a baby-wipe to the area under his tail. Sometimes just getting the cruddies off helps stop rubbing.

Mmm, well maybe it did burn him a bit! HA! It was kinda funny to watch him get all weird about it. I surely wont be rubbing his back end, for he is a stallion and is a kicker! Aw, no thanks! LOL

Nate gets welts if I put it on his body. It seems to be fine on his legs but if I put it on his body it looks like I beat him with a whip the next day.
