As I mentioned in a previous post, I picked up some ice boots while in the throes of a shopping spree at Schneider's. Jim is at a show for 2 weeks now and I had my first chance to try them out today after his classes. They are great!!! You just stuff ice into the pockets and fix the boot on with the velcro straps, kind of like shipping boots. Jim just gave them a sniff and went back to eating his hay (gotta love a horse off the track - they have already seen everything it seems . I left him there and went to clean up his tack while his legs chilled. They are really practical for shows - you just have to bring a cooler with ice. Plus, they are long enough that the bottom of the boot extends over the top part of the hoof and chills that part too, which you can't do with poultice and wraps. Love them! One question for you others that use them...how long do you usually leave them on? I did around 20 minutes.
