Abandoned horses in CO (Chris read please)

Chris, I thought that you might be interested in some of these Arabs if their owners aren't found.

Subject: can anyone rescue these horses?

I got this email just now from Distributor Janet Chiesna:

I am trying to do what I can to see that 16 abandoned horses are saved from the slaughter house.

Some time ago **** abandoned 19 horses. It is not known how long the horses went without food before they were discovered. One has died and 2 have been rescued.

The rest are temporarily being cared for by La Cheval Ranches, Fountain, CO 719-382-7908. The contact person there is Debi. Another contact is Tammy at 719-683-3594.



I am hoping maybe some of these horses belong to someone other than the boarding stable who abandoned them. I have contacted the registry to see if they can check into that for me.

If you know anyone who may own one of these horses, please forward this information to them. If not, if you know of anyone who may be able to rescue any please let them know about them. I was told that if they go to auction, they will end up with the killers. ...

Any help would be appreciated by the horses. Following is the list of horses. I copied it from a zipped email, some of which was hard to read so there may be some mis-spellings.

It's bad enough the boarding stable people abandoned their operation, worst if the owners of some of the horses weren't aware there was a problem. Very sad. Hope they find homes for these horses.

Oh, this breaks my heart! I'll have a friend do a bloodline search. I'm about at my horse limit.. so I have to be pretty selective on who I take in. I sure hope these horses find good homes. chris

OMG, that is just horrible. I hope they get the people who just left them like that. I sure hope they can find homes for them or at least some people willing to fostyer them till they can get homes. They are allso young, some are just babies really...oh thats just horrible someone did that.

This is a situation where horses were being boarded. There is a board contract. The horses are fed and cared for. They may be sold at some point to recover the board but the horses are ok at this time.

Two mares were returned to the owners and the breeders. One of the horses listed died some time ago and is not related to this situation at all...Jan"

Are you telling us, the horses were being boarded, the horse owners weren't paying board, so the barn stopped feeding them? If that's the case, the barn owners should still be fined for neglect of the worst kind. I've boarded at some budget barns before and NONE of them would not stop feeding a horse because the owner was behind on board. If this is the case, these barn owners need to get out of the horse business.
